Mark Savel, is a licensed architect in the state of California and Nevada. He received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1978 from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI/Arch). He is the founding principal of Mark H. Savel Architects, Inc. Prior to establishing the firm, Mr. Savel was affiliated with a number of nationally recognized architectural and real estate development firms. While associated with these organizations, Mr. Savel was primarily involved with site selection and analysis, architectural design, project management, contract negotiation, and construction administration and supervision. In addition to Mr. Savel's architectural and construction background, he has experience with the design-build and the development process.
Mr. Savel sustains involvement in business and professional organizations. He is a member of the National, State and Local Chapters of the American Institute of Architects. Other affiliations include the Building Performance and Regulation Committee of the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA, memberships in the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, as well as a local business group. In 1997, Mr. Savel became a member of the Board of Directors of a not-for-profit Real Estate Development organization known as Neighborhood Partners. He has addressed business and municipal groups, college classes, and workshops on the subjects of land use, design, and construction and building performance.
Maria Perez, a senior project manager, joined Mark H. Savel after graduating from Southern California Institute of Architecture and working with three other architectural firms. During her time with savel, she has managed the investigation, design development and construction document phases of several projects including UCI Middle Earth Phase I Exteriors, UC Irvine Arroyo Vista Housing, Ocean Front Walk, Brentwood at Kiowa, and Oak Pointe. In addition to managing construction phase services for many other projects, Ms. Perez coordinates and manages investigation work the firm’s forensic litigation and non-litigation support projects.
Sara Weller is a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Arts & Sciences and UCLA Extension's Professional Level Interior Architecture and Design Program (Arc_ID) where she served as a Board Member of the Arc_ID ASID Student Chapter, and was a founder of the UCLA Arc_ID Green Design Committee. Ms. Weller gained extensive experience in hospitality design working for Hirsh Bedner and Associates and at Knapp Interiors, Inc. as a Project Manager for Trump Waikiki | Contemporary Scheme Typical and Trump Level Units. At savel Ms. Weller is the head of Operations and provides support for the firm’s forensic litigation and renovation projects.
Jayna Cooper is a state of California licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional. An honor graduate of USC's Master of Architecture program, Jayna also earned a Certificate in Historic Preservation while living in one of Pasadena's National Historic Landmarks through the Gamble House Scholar-in-Residence program. Jayna joined savel shortly after designing and building her own home, featured in Architectural Record as House of the Month. Her previous experience includes working as Project Architect for David Grey Architects, along with a variety of architectural and construction internships, both domestic and abroad, throughout her formal education.
After graduating from the University of Southern California, School of Architecture, Mr. Morris worked at several architectural firms in California, Texas and Florida including William Lane Architects, Three Architecture, and Cannon Dworsky. Before joining savel he was involved in several projects including Venetian Condominium Renovations, Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Renovation, The Peninsula Spa Renovation, Biscayne Boulevard Office/Retail, Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink, and UCLA Sport Training Center Expansion. From Pre-Design through Construction Administration Chris is experienced in coordinating with consultants and contractors. He has worked on Educational, Residential, Restaurant, Hospitality, Civic, Commercial and Retail Projects. While at savel he has worked as Project Manager for UCI Arroyo Vista Housing Repairs Groups A B and C, UCI Humanities Office Building II Repairs and offered support on UCI Middle Earth Housing Repairs.
A graduate of the University of Southern California School of Architecture, Ms. Lopez joined savel in 2005. Prior to joining savel, Ms. Lopez worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Water and Power in their Solar Group on demonstration projects integrating photovoltaics into building design and with LAWA Associates in a joint venture between Parsons and DMJM Aviation on Los Angeles International Airport's redesign of certain areas within airport as part of Terminal Strategic Security Plan. At savel, Ms. Lopez has managed the design development, forensic investigation, and construction document phases for projects such as 4 Jib Street, Casa de Plata, Hollywood & Highland and The Desmond.
